Violet (from the coming book)
- Here in the violet are the awakening desires, a kind of longing for action, for the deed to be done with the body. Carried by longing, I move away into violet to undertake something, to realize a nascent plan that should bring me closer once again.
- I almost want to speak here of "violet dreams," a kind of passionate enthusiasm that is either purely spiritual or purely greedy but can also be a mixture of both. In the violet, what I want, desire, and crave acquires its ideal character and thus a contradictory coloration: what I want is specific; it is a person, an object, an action, but in the violet soul, it becomes an ideal, loses its most singular characteristics and becomes a representative of all needs and desires. When I thus remove myself in a violet enthusiasm, I can speak of "idealizing desire"”
- Then, as in the fresh sobriety of the early morning, I disappear into the blue. Bright and cooling, the blue takes up my longing and puts it to sleep, everything comes to rest: "tomorrow is another day".
